Hey everybody,
Having this bug in v 1.9. Each time I change the size of a picture with the numbers in the properties toolbar, D.H.E. crashes. Anybody else has this problem? I am including part of a message I sent to Davide (he doesn't have this problem, this is why I wonder if I'm alone here!) so you know what I mean..
1. Open D.H.E. 1.9 2. Insert an image using the button at the left. 3. Width is currently 502, height is 211. I want to change the height to 200. 4. Type in the height of 200 in the properties thing at the right. 5. Click on the page or press Enter (tried both). D.H.E. has disappeared and a box appears. Message is: D.H.E.WE.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created. (thanks for not telling me, stupid computer, that I am also losing all my changes... guessed it anyway~) This is what I always get. I have tried also to change the height (also width) by using the arrows but it does the same thing. I am on a Windows 2000 system. It doesn't work on an XP Professional either, on another 2000, and on a Vista.
AM I ALONE?!
thanks, maia |

Maia, have you tried with other images (with different size) or are you using always the same? Maybe it's a bug of the Graphical library used by the free version. I'll try to reproduce the problem in my home pc

Hi Davide,
Always different pictures, sorry... Hopefully you'll figure out the problem soon. I hope that some people are going to answer so we know if it might just be me. Even then, how come it happens on so many different computers?

Just spend 50 euro's and you have no worries anymore... Just the best editor you can get...
2 months before I read an article on D.H.E. I bought Macromedia Studio...
Costed me (something like) 850 euro's and since I discovered D.H.E. I haven't made a website in Dreamweaver.
So... forget about the free version and buy the latest version. |

Sorry but right now I don't have money to spend on this software... perfectly fine for the moment, with the free version. Though I am saving up to get it next year! At 13 it's not that easy to get money. ;-) (I could convince my dad to pay the other half... hey, good idea!)
But I'm just hoping to find a way to get the bug fixed... why don't YOU try out the free version and take a look?!
THanks, Maia
PS: Davide - why don't you have a free download day one day? Just 24 hrs when we could get the software free!! This would be amazing. ;o) |

He did have a free download day - it was yesterday!! Just kidding. Believe me, I understand that sometimes money is an obstacle even when the amount of money isn't large. But having programmed I can also say this stuff takes a LOT of time and the market is fiercely competitive. I also have had to put my purchase on hold because of some emergencies that have come up. |

You didn't mention anything about the graphical format your trying to import other than size.Try importing the pic and then drag it to size with the mouse. |

just found out what the problem was... when you double-click on the picture the option "Maintain Proportion" is already selected, so when you change the size it just crashes.
now Davide, can you find a way to either make the Maintain Proportion NOT be selected automatically, or to make D.H.E. NOT crash when we make a mistake?
cheers, maia |

I don't know how to fix this problem because you seem to be the only one experiencing this problem :-( Send the the .D.H.E. file and please explain me in a detailed way how to do in order to reproduce this problem. |

The option "Maintain Proportion" is exactly what it says it is......no matter if you resize the pic or not.It maintains an aspect ratio between the width and height automatically so you don't have to do it manually...which is next to impossible to accurately do. |
