Running Vista Home Premium (64 bit). DHE installed to my x86 program folder, where all of the 32 bit programs go. My problem is that DHE is crashing constantly, whether editing a brand new site, or one created in 4.2. Almost anything will make it crash. For example, double clicking on an image on a page will earn me the Windows error message "Dynamic HTML Wysiwyg Editor has stopped working..." I have tired running the program as an administrator. Anyone else had this problem or have any ideas? Thanks!

Now also the version 4.x is compatible with every 64 bit processor ;-)
s.dav Posted - 06 Dec 2009 : 12:00:14
You are right, I'll upgrade the version 4.x in order to make it 100% compatible with every 64 bit processor

Hi!
I'm running Windows 7 (x64) Professional on a Dual Core Duo E8400 and I'm getting simular problems with DHTM 4.3.36. I downloaded the latest version, but it's date is 22-08-2009. Is there a new build and where can I download it, or should I switch to version 5?

This seems to be caused by a bug on the Microsoft Visual Basic 6 Virtual Machine.
I just recompiled the program in "Native Mode"; in fact the program hanged up on a valid instruction :-(

Davide, interesting topic, just curious, what caused the problem without going to deep into specs..
s.dav Posted - 23 Nov 2009 : 09:03:19
Good!

Thank you very much.
The new build seems to work fine now on my Vista 64-bit Asus laptop.
Thanks again.

Davide,

Thanks for getting it working again in Vista 64! I appreciate your support and the way you stand behind your product!

Cheers,
RT

I'll send you another copy to test ;-)
thanks!
rtrufus Posted - 31 Oct 2009 : 05:43:23
Thanks, Davide. I sent you the debug report. Let me know if anything else I can do on this end.
Many thanks,
RT
s.dav Posted - 30 Oct 2009 : 09:18:29
I sent you a private email
rtrufus Posted - 29 Oct 2009 : 21:29:44
Davide,

I would be happy to test the debug version. If you tell me exactly what you would like me to do I will do it.

The email address in my profile is still current.

Thanks,
RT

There are also other processors having problems; in general all super new Intel 64 bit processors.
I have an E6750 Core 2 Duo 64 bit 2.66 Ghz processor with Vista and Win 7 64 and all work perfectly;
I hadn't been able to make the program crash in any way...

Is there someone who can test a debug version of my program? Maybe we'll find the problem!
jbijnens Posted - 29 Oct 2009 : 11:31:21
If it can help you, I'm running (a crashing) DHE on Vista 64 on an Intel Core2 Duo T9400.
It is an Asus Notebook G50V series.
So I doubt whether the crashes are related to a Core I7 CPU.
In XP which I run in a VirtualBox on the same machine it works perfectly.

Thanks for your time and efforts to try to solve this problem.
s.dav Posted - 29 Oct 2009 : 09:30:00
As I thought :-(
The problem appears on Core I7 CPU :-(

The problem seems to be related to the "Combo Box" control present in D.H.W.E. panels.

Can you make this test?

- Open D.H.W.E.
- Choose Help/Tips -> it should work
- Choose Help/Check For updates -> it should work
- Choose Tools/Links/Events -> it should work
- Choose Tools/Image Tips -> it should work

- On any other panel with combo box it should crash, also creating an object and pressing the F4 key should result in a crash (the property panel on the right has combo boxes)

Can you confirm?

Davide,

My processor is Intel Core i7 CPU 920 @2.67GHz

rtrufus,

the problem seems to happen only in some 64bit processors. What type of processor have you got?
rtrufus Posted - 28 Oct 2009 : 00:21:16
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only person this is happening to. Please let me know if there is any other information that I can provide, Davide.

Thanks,
RT

I'm currently working with a customer that has the same problem in order to find it.
This problem only appears in some 64 bit systems

Sorry to say that deinstalling, cleaning the registry and reinstalling the software hasn't solved the problem.
DHE still crashes.

Best regards,

Just read in another post

"I personally tested D.H.E. on my Vista 64 (without SP1) and it worked perfectly.
Try to uninstall the program, clean your registry and repeat the installation.
Be sure also to use the latest version of the program (actually 4.3)."

I'll try that. I'll install DHE and I will clean the registry with registry mechanic and ccleaner and then reinstall the software to see whether this will solve the problem.
I'll keep you informed.

Best regards,

John

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem in Vista 64 Home Premium with both DHE 4.x and DHE 5.x
It is just unusable with crashes all the time, options in dialog windows that can not be set, e.g. event properties of a button, ...
If I install the very same software in VirtualBox running XP it works fine.
Is there anything I can do I help you to find and fix this problem so it would be a bit easier to use this otherwise fantastic software package ?

Best regards,

John Bijnens

I'll give you a link for version 4.2 so you can try it.
If it works I'll check differences so maybe there is a problem of the software

I use this sometimes http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/SmartClose/smartclose.html --it shuts down more than you are aware of--after it is done disconnect from the internet and disable all security prorams that are not allowed to be stopped by smartclose then try DHWE if that don't work use the program the same way but uninstall dhwe then use smartclose before re-installing DHWE..

I hope it helps----care to share what security software you are using?

I might go as far as uninstalling all the security software rebooting and trying dhwe

did you check in the event viewer when the errors started and then go to the program files and sort by date to find out what was installed after that date

my problem was with abtrusion protector and Finjan
abtrusion seems to have gone away

Davide,

Yes, I tried that after uninstalling every trace that I could find of 4.3.36. I have the exact same problem with DHWE 5.0 crashing in the same ways. I suspect that since I seem to be the only person with this problem lately, that it must be some sort of conflict with my system or processes.

rtrufus,

can you try to install DHWE 5.0 trial on your system?
Maybe this will solve the problem, please let me know.

rtrufus Posted - 12 Oct 2009 : 21:12:41
I'm not, and I wish I knew why. Is there any clue in my error report above?
s.dav Posted - 05 Oct 2009 : 09:00:00
I'm using DHWE on Vista and Win7 64 bit with UAC active without any problem.
joneq Posted - 03 Oct 2009 : 21:16:18
did you try safe mode and what about trying dhwe 5.0 it installs in its own directory---it does not over write old versions [I hear?]---I have 5.0 installed but not any other version...

look in the device manager for yellow or red "things"

also saw this about user account control with that dll and vista64 --turn it off and try

For the record, I have tried installing the program as an administrator, running it as an administrator, running it in XP compatibility mode; everything I can think of.

Davide,
What would you like me to try next? I tried turning off antivirus and antispyware.

Hi,

It is worth trying to install DHE as administrator. Make sure that you make it available for all users on your PC.

Bye,

I went to make my post about the possibility of a software conflict without logging in and when I went to post it I got an error because I was not logged in, I copied and pasted the error with the explanation "I also got this error when I tried to post this reply from windows 7 ult 64" but later, after I discovered the error came from not being logged in, I deleted the actual error but not the explanation about wix7ult64--etc

--When you replied I did not know if it was directed at me so I just reposted to clarify.

I think we should make use of things like @sdav [or quoted text] when there is a reply to a specific person.

Sorry for confusion. I have no prob with last version of dwhe--I have not even tried it on my windows 7 ultimate 64 box--looking forward to seeing if I have any probs with V5 [today hopefully???]
