Hello Forum,
first i'm not really familiar with webeditingtools. I don't understand how i made a website with divs (with DHE), example about my wishes:

1.Centered page, 1024*768 or 1280*1024 with header, footer and 3 columns

************************************
* header 955px * height 100px
************************************
*Menu * content 655px *some *
*150px* *what * height 600px
* * *150px*
************************************
* footer * height 50px
************************************
Only the content should change on each page.
2. Anyone knows a german howto. I need the Editor only for my wife whom will edit her homepage byself. She don't understand english. And i'm a really bad trainer. (This time she using InternetDesigner pro 3.0, from ?2000?, this one works with table layout)
3. How can i get DHE running with wine, cause i work with linux.
4. Is it possible to make the homepage 2linguar (only change the text for the content and menus?)
5. Can i give table cells a picture?

That are enough questions for the moment, thank you for your patience, reading it and answers.

Best regards from

Michael from Berlin

I searched the forum about wine and it does not appear to work with DHE==the results were for older versions so it may now be supported

Too Bad because dhe is just what you need. David once told me you can run DHE off a USB thumb drive so if you have access to a windows computer you can use it--I think..

I will tell you what to do in case you get it to work..you can download the help file in .PDF format http://www.dynamic-html-editor.com/en/tutorials.asp. Maybe you can translate it on your computer.

---------------------------------------------------

Read the help file for master-page and placeholder

you can also take a look at the javascript tool where you would show the master page and hide everything but what you want people to see when they click a link to a page--there is a template called "red sea" that shows it--scroll down to bottom and download it and download it and open it in dhe--then view the properties It is at the botom of that link above

Master page contains all the files that will be on every page you specify--It can be every page of the site like you need

placeholder is where you put the content that will be different on what ever page you are currently viewing.

if you need to use linux/wine you may be out of luck

wait for David to post--beat to get it straight from the horses/developers mouth

Hi joneq,

thx for your post. In the moment DHE runs in a Virtualmachine. I try it under Wine, me think i must first install IE7 or better.

Best wishes from Berlin

glad to hear it works in VM.

Master_page and placeholder may be a little difficult to understand so I think it might be useful for you to create a new project from an included template and see what files are included and how that are structured. if you don't see any templates check for updates--help>check for updates then click check for updates at the top.

go to tools>project>new project and pick a template

when you do this open the shared folder and you will see the master-page.dhe and the place holder[which is the pink box]. Every thing not in the pink box goes on every page if you want it to.

then open another page file like contact or services or about us--whatever is there automatically goes in the pink box that you saw on the master-page.dhe.

use the guides to help with location- tools>guides

dhe is simple enough to use but to get the most out of it you have to read the help file to get the most out of it

hi joneq,

thnx again, i played today the half day with DHE, having first results.
I won't run it in a vm for ever, so i think i might get it run in wine the next days. My problem is, i never have enough time.

Cheers from Berlin

Michael

mineu33,

1- in order to center your page content you need only to open the "Page Properties" dialog and check the "Center Page" flag; you cannot create a site with Dynamic sized objects; you can reuse objects with for example Master-pages
2- there is also the "German" translation of the program; simply select it fromt the "Program Settings"
3- unfortunately I was not able to make Dynamic HTML Editor run using Wine or DarWine (for MAC)
4- you need to code this part of the site by your own
5- actually the "Table" object is quite stupid and doesn't support Images in cells; you can create a HTML table using HTML code by inserting a HTML box on the page and code it.

Regards, Davide
