I'm using the function Import - File to HTML object, to include a "Go to" combo box. I would like to use it on several pages. The trick would be that when I have to make changes to the list of links I only have to change it once. But after changing the Go to list (saving and exporting it) nothing happens on the pages where I did the include. (even when saving and exporting it). Do I expect to much? Or do I do something wrong? |

I have several news pages. Every 2-3 months a new one is added. I want to have a "Go to" combo box on every news page so visitors can jump to the news page they want. I have created a separated page called news_combo_box.dhe. On this page I placed the combo box. On every news page I have imported the news_combo_box.htm using File to HTML object. Now when I ad a News page I change the news_combo_box.htm.
I thought that doing so would be enough and after exporting the whole site every automatically would have the updated "Go to" combo box.
@jtarin that should work also. Do you use 2 page or is updating the link enough? It's not working, when DHE includes the pages it just ads the code, no links. So maybe this aint going to work at all. Anyone alternatives? |

But why are you changing the .htm file instead of the .dhe one? |

I change the news_combo_box.htm by changing the corresponding .dhe file and saving and exporting it. So I didn't changend the .htm file instead of the .dhe.
I think it's clear what I am trying to do. Is this the right way, or is there another way, or can't it be done? |

I think it's much more easier to insert the news_combo_box.dhe file by choosing the option "Insert .DHE file" under the white/green arrow on the left of your window. |

@petran that could be a solution. But it looks that placement can't be changed, and I still have to click on "refresh" after making changes. Is there no way this is handled automatically? And about placement of a .dhe included file, is there a work around? |

Placement is made in your news_combo_box.dhe file. Just put it where you want it to appear in your other pages. As far as I know it can't be changed in pages in which it is inserted. When you mean refresh in your browser, that's a browser thing. Your page is cached for quicker access and shows the page as it was the last time. With "refresh" (F5) you empty your browsercache so the changed page is shown. You can add a meta-tag to tell the browser not to cache a page. While you are also from the Netherlands I give you a link with a Dutch explanation. http://www.handleidinghtml.nl/html/meta-informatie/meta-informatie05.html

mad, you can use an "Object Reference", simply create a new page, put your combo into this page, right click on the combo and choose "Save Object As..." ->> "Save it in my site", save it
In the pages put an "Object Reference" that points on that file; re-export all interested page and you're done. |

First thanks to everyone for helping me so far. One of the strong points of DHE! @Davide I made a new page (combopage) and put a combo on it with 2 options. Right click on the combo and choosed "Save Object As..." ->> "Save it in my site", saved it (not in shared but in the root) On a news page I choosed "Object Reference"; and re-export all interested pages
Now I change the combo options on "combopage" (add 1, now 3 options instead of 2 options) re-export all interested pages choose preview on the news page but the combo there has still only 2 options
What am I doing wrong? |

You have to change the .dheo object and not the page! Double click over the .dheo object, change it then Re-save it over the previous file; re-export all |

@Davide Is it correct that I still have to press the Refresh proportie of the combo object on every news page where I have placed the object? |

If the page that uses the object is already loaded yes. Simply close the page and re-export the project. I check this point for the new release |
