Hi
I have noticed that some of the pictures on my website aren't showing.. and I'm not sure why, I can't see any 'events' that would stop them from showing.
See this page http://www.ebabycentre.com/rockstarstroller.htmwhere the pictures at the top of the page have just disappeared, and the filled rectangle in the bottom left corner.
Any ideas why and how I can fix this?
Thanks. |

Right-click on the image to check image properties and look for file location. Check your site content to make sure the file exists in that location and is of the same name. |

Hi jtarin
If I double click left on the image, the filename seems to come up as the same on my index page for http://www.ebabycentre.comand that image on the homepage comes up fine? (I have the same images on all the pages, and some seem to be working while others are not).
If I right click on the image, I can't see any properties that indicate the file location? (That's the properties box)

While viewing your site online in your browser....Right-click on the image to check image properties and look for file location. Check your site files/folders to make sure the file exists in that location and is of the same name. |

As I do that here is what I see...as a filename: "rockstarstrollerrockstarbabyinfinitystrollerinfinityrockstarbabypramrockstarpraminfinityrockstarstroller.png" It would be prudent to rename your files with shorter names. It helps avoiding mistakes in creating links to them. |

Ah I see what you mean.
The image that I've picked up on every page of my website is from C:/Documents and Settings/ebabycentre/project/filename.jpg - I thought this was the filename that you were referring to, this is the file I select when putting in the image in DHTML on each page of my website.
The other that you mentioned "rockstarstroller....." is where, in picture properties, I've clicked on 'force this name' - I thought that would be a good idea to put in some keywords for search engines?
I'll have another play around with it to get the images up. |

Hmmm, I still can't figure out why they're not showing up, even on this page:
http://www.ebabycentre.com/cotbedding.htm I've got images that aren't showing, even in the body of the webpage...
Yet they're showing up fine when I do a page preview? |

Assuming everything is as it should be and it is not working, I would, just for the hell of it, get a free hosting account here. I think approval is pretty immediate..
http://www.000webhost.com/
use their domain not yours when you set it up like http://ebabycentre.site88.com/net or whatever it is..
upload the site and see if the pics show up---Just to eliminate any hostgator issues---I like to eliminate anything out of my control before I spend too much time trying to fix anything that is not my problem..
It is a very nice free host to boot.
My neice is having a baby next month I will send her over soon---to the website I mean--not Australia |

Have you opened up your file manager on your hosting site and looked in those files and visibly seen those images there to make sure they have been uploaded? In DHE editor...picture properties are you "linking only" or "exporting" the image? |

I understand now that the images with the file name 'rockstarstroller...png' and the other images that aren't showing should be listed as a file on the file manager, as you mentioned I can't see them listed on the FileZilla that I have.
How do I go about uploading these files now?
In DHE picture properties (when I double left click the image) export options = Automatic (that's the default one that I just leave it at, should that be changed?)
Also in DHE picture properties, it is checked against 'when possible use original name' |

The pictures must be onsite for them to viewed in the browser..that is they must exist in your folders you have degnated them to be online as they are on your local machine...example: /files
You can either upload them using an FTP manager or using your websites filemanger...most have a facility for uploading files. Remember...path...path...path...the browser needs to know where the picture is. |

jtarin - thank you, you are a genius!!
Another thing that I have learned from you.
One thing I don't understand though is why I have had to manually upload these files, when others have been okay?
Anyway it's all fixed now, thanks again. |

Well as far as I know, I didn't delete any files to cause them to go missing, so that's why I'm not sure what happened to the images...? Most FTP clients are similar...Local Files in the Left pane...Remote Site in Right Pane. I dont use Filzilla, but here's a link to a tutorial http://www.thesitewizard.com/gettingstarted/howtoupload.shtml |
