I've recently made a big decision in my life.
I'm gonna sell my main business (a record store) and I'm going to try to build up a fulltime webdesign company.

Hello Toon,
This is a big decision indeed. I am not sure how your record store is doing, but starting up a new business is always tricky.
I wish you good luck and lots of clients.

Allthough I still make a nice profit out of the recordstore I think it's a good time for me to go in a different direction.
Downloading becomes more and more a problem and after 26 years it's time for something different.
And you know what, I don't need a lot of money...
(but my wife does :) |

I was wondering, are there more people that develop websites fulltime here that work with DHE? |

I am retired but work for a college part-time and do web design on the side. My web design business suffers from customers not knowing what effective web design is. My sites don't have a lot of pizazz, but deliver content/information rather well. Most customers really don't know what communicating via a web page is all about. (see http://webpagesthatsuck.com)
I would suggest you keep your record store until you get established in the web design field. The competition is fierce! |

I registered myself as a webdesign business on 01.01.2006. Since then I made quit a few sites for paying customers. Nowadays it's so that I have too little time in the week to spend on making websites. And that's without any advertisement at all.
Ofcourse I could do it on the side (thats what I disd the last 2 years) but selling cd's is becoming harder and harder every day and just doesn't give me enough satisfaction anymore. Working for a boss is something I haven done in a veeeery long time time so that's not an option either. My financial situation is rather oke so if there's a week without work I can still pay the morgage :)
So I'm gonna give it my best, hire myself a brandnew officespace (working from home is not ideal) and become a 'name' in this bizznizz.

I develop websites fulltime and work with DHE:-).
I used to work with Adobe GoLive but since I found DHE I haven't really used it anymore.
The software I use are: DHE Paint Shop Pro (don't like photoshop) Sothink DHTML Menu Forms To Go Coolruler Ws_Ftp pro Swishmax (but I haven't used it in a long time) Pspad editor Colorpic Advance Jpeg Compressor Topstyle (don't use it that often seeing as DHE creates it's own stylesheets) |

Toon, good luck!
Martin stated he uses WS_FTP. I used it too when it still was free- or shareware. Since a few years I use Filezilla. Freeware, lots of possibilities, nice to use. You can find it here: http://filezilla-project.org/download.php

Londen, is right! I tested many, but the "Filezilla" is the best. I always use.
Toon, good luck and many good sites!

I also have Filezilla because I sometimes have some problems with ws-ftp pro so I installed Filezilla. Very handy and very powerfull and I can certainly advise you to use it:-).
