Hi, I have just a simple question.... When will D.H.E.4 be released?
I love your program, my website (www.verhijden.nl) is running succesfully for over a year now and I'm still updating weekly my site.
D.H.E.4 is now 3 months ago annouced and I still don't see a new version
I even switched over to Apple-Mac OSX and I could use DreamWeaver if I want, but specially for this I'm running a virtual machine for updating my website. My greatest wish would be a OSX version, but I think that will never happen....[2 77:H]

This is not a simple question ;-)
I hope within the end on September...

An OSX version will be never released since I developed D.H.E. using Microsoft Visual Basic 6. In order to release a multi-platform version I should rewrite the program using another language :-(

Should we be bracing ourselves for another delay,and if so is there a major/minor stumbling block?Or are you just adding more features that could be included in an updated version[as was suggested].

I know it can't be helped, but I am not getting good vibes. I hope I am wrong

Well I'm getting good vibes, I think Mid October is my guess, Davide is a perfectionist, so we are going to have to wait just a little longer than usual to get that perfect Program.

George.

I really do not know what would cause you to get good vibes--would you care to elaborate????????????Do you have inside info you can share????Mid October/Christmas/New Years day

My bad vibes were about the release date,,, not David and his quest for perfection which I applaud. Nobody in their right mind wants to relase buggy software....

My post was sort of a rhetorical question[not especially meant to be replied to].More in the realm of --it has been 3 weeks since the last vague update[I use the word loosly]---of sorts..

Nobody wants anyone to do anything before it is time..,but an update now and then would be a courtesy I would appreciate.Not one update was given without someone asking!!!The last one was almost a month ago and considering that v4 is in very very end stages[hopefully] updates/release date should be more frequent...

It is getting a little comical actually.Whenever it is released will be fine-- It will have to be. I still hear from people I had suggested D.H.E. 4 to asking me was it ever released--of course they can see it hasn't been--but they like to rub it in....

They decided on other software just because of the long "almost ready"--not a good reason but that is what they said. They had work to do!!!!!

They are happy with what they bought for $60--although I don't think it is/will be as good. Either way David is currently/permanently out the money. That can't be good--For David.

Hopefully V4 will be good enough that they decide to spring for it after the 30 days are up assuming they bother to download the trial...After the long "almost ready" period I would not blame them if they had doubts---unfounded of course.

I think they will try it out, and will see it is better, but since they already have similar software[starts and ends with an "A"] they may say the difference or the added features are not worth it...Until it is released the cannot know,but they could not wait..

All in all I do not think we will be seeing "almost ready" with future major releases. Might I suggest

The free version, I think, is more than adequate to convince people that D.H.E. is is an editor that has no equal. People that are basing their opinions to change from one application to another on an unreleased version of any software are being unrealistic.They should be able to form their own judgements as to the usability of a product based on their own particular needs. BTW upgrades are free once the license is paid.

Dear friends,

at this moment I'm very busy with my "official" work (I work for an italian company).
My work consists in creating advanced web interfaces for executing bank operations; the framework I created is called "WAX" (Web Application eXtended) and it uses the most advanced javascript techninques today available.
In this moment one of the bigger company'client has some issues so I'm working in order to adjust them.

The development of the new version is (as it was a month ago) almost ready, I have to finish two simple new features, I have to fix a bug when exporting the same file contained into two different directories and (the worst) I have to adjust/rewrite the help.

I hope that in two weeks I'll be able to re-start developing.

Thank you for the patience!

Regards, Davide

Yes, VB6 programs run as always also in Windows Vista
The only small issue is the VB6 Environment that is very slow on Vista, compiled programs work good ;-)
IMHO Vista is not so bad as I heard on the internet ;-)

Hello s.dav,
<fun>
i'am looking for some Pin-Nummbers. It ist good to know, that your are work for a bank. ;-)
</fun>

I have a personal question at s.dav, because i respect your superb work.
With what an invironment have you programed Dynamic HTML Editor?
I think, for one Person it is very hard to keep all the Code in the eyes.
Or is it possible, like in Borland invironment, to buy some Components from 3.party companies. I think you are useing Microsoft .Net ???
I programm only for my hobby, with Borland c++ Builder.
I have also tryed to understand the Microsoft Code "cooking", but
for me is it hard to understand what's going on.

Have a nice time and thanks, if you answer me.
Bye

@KnockDown

the program has been written in Microsoft Visual Basic 6, but the only standard thing remained now is the sintax ;-)
Every widget has been rewritten (see my library "Unicode Controls for VB6", very hard work :-()
Rotation functions have been made in C language and some other functions that need high performance...

The only 3 party thing used is a library for loading graphical image formats.

My doughter, a goldsmith who was quit impressed by your program would like to use it but..... has only mac...
She would like an mac version[2 H:)]

A suggestion
You could try to use "real basic"?
It seems to be similar to visual basic and is able to make runtimes for the mac and linux as well as for all windows versions!

http://www.realsoftware.com/support/whitepapers/portingvisualbasic/
