I have one Dynamic HTML Editor objects that serves as the template for my site. All of my pages are built on this file. I recently made some changes to the file: I changed the code in an HTML object, and I added some "Top of Page" code. I refreshed the object in each page that includes it. Then I exported the project (export all). When I went to check the exported code for one page that includes that file, I discovered that the code changes that were made to the "parent" file were not in it.

How do I get those code changes to propogate to all the Dynamic HTML Editor files who inserted the modified Dynamic HTML Editor file?

I do that every time before posting here. When I can't find an answer to my problem, I post it here. For instance, I looked for information on inserted Dynamic HTML Editor objects, but could not find anything on how code changes got passed from the inherited object to the inheriting object. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place or in the right manner? Anyway, I wish there were a manual that I could print out and peruse by topic.

Ohhhh. I will try that. Incidentally, is there a Dynamic HTML Editor manual that I can consult? That way, maybe I won't have to pester you with so many questions. :)

Hello Jazz,

first of all you have to check the "inherits author..." but you have not to click the "inherit Now" because this link removes the check...
So check the flag and try to export all pages. The code will be mixed when you export the page.
Check also if your imported file are pointing to the latest versions of your pages.

Be sure to save the imported file. So you can re-export the project without open all pages and refresh the imported object (this is unuseful)
Be sure that in your pages there is the check "Inherits Author, ect..." selected or this doesn't work.

I am still having trouble with this. I did discover that I wasn't using the "Inherits Author..." check box, so that was part of the problem. I am using it now. However, when it inherits the code, it does not appear to be inheriting the code from the current Dynamic HTML Editor file, but rather from an older version.

I made changes to the inserted Dynamic HTML Editor file's head and body code and saved that file. Then I went to all Dynamic HTML Editor files which insert that file and checked "Inherits Author, code, etc..." and clicked on "Inherit now" Then I went back to check on the relevant code inside the inheriting Dynamic HTML Editor file, but it wasn't the latest code from the parent Dynamic HTML Editor, instead it was an older version of the code. I tested this several times, always making sure that my latest code changes were saved in the inherited Dynamic HTML Editor file, but I always got this same result: the latest code changes were not inherited.

Please advise.

Actually, I was mistaken. It appears that the code for the HTML object got propogated to the including pages, but the "Page Top" code from the included "Main Page settings" was not. I assume that this is not supported. I do hope that it will be in a future release.
