I draw a "circle" using the shapes tool, apply a solid color, then apply the effect "transparent image" @ 50%......the shape reverts to a square. [2 ?:-|]

Thanks Davide...I had overlooked that aspect, as I was working in the "effects" dialogue applying other effects.

I think I should modify this effect because it seem to not work correctly.
To apply a global transparency to your circle double click on it and change the value for the "global transparency" field.
