I've been doing a side-by-side comparison of Dynamic HTML Editor 2.0 with SiteSpinner--deciding which to buy--and Dynamic HTML Editor is holding up very well. But one thing I notice is that the typeface in Dynamic HTML Editor looks considerably more jagged in my browser than the same typeface produced in SiteSpinner. Is there a setting which would improve the smoothness of Dynamic HTML Editor's fonts? |

Crop would be VERY useful
Also on my mini wish list:
1. line spacing, word spacing and letter spacing - all easy to do with css
2. better colour selector - with a memory for favourites (I use AI Smartcolor - now discontinued but easy to find as a freeware download, this helps me to grab colours and find complimentary or other balancing colour schemes)
3. make the graphic effects available as rollover actions (easy buttons - very much like Fireworks!
4. enhanced graphic effects - glass highlight effects are nice again for buttons.
Again - I love this program! I hope it gets the recognition it deserves. |

I'm thinking over other very interesting features of version 2.1 like crop for images, a tool that permits to create beautiful titles for the pages, background for layers (so you can create completely standard web sites without use css), header and footer pages, etc.. ;-) |

Wow you are right Davide. I didn't even realize that this was also possible.
Create some text right click and transform it into a picture. Then go to the properties panel and choose Effects and choose antialiasing.
Doubleclick on the picture (what used to be text) and change some settings if you want to (export as is, export as jpeg, export as png set transparanty, set jpeg quality).
Unbelievable.
This is so excellent.[2 H:)]

Hello fzirp,
If I remember correctly Site Spinner creates an image containing your text, Dynamic HTML Editor creates labels using pure text so it can be indexes by robots like google...
You can apply effects (like antialiasing) to your text by creating a label, transform it to picture and apply the antialiasing effect. |

Hello fzirp (sounds like something form an old science fiction movie ).
I didn't mean that the font was smaller but that it looks like it is an eniterly different font. (like Verdana and Arial are two different fonts).
But I think we'd indeed better wait for Davide to come to the rescue.
Looks like he is taking a break. Haven't seen him around for a few days. Well the break is well deserved he did an excellent job on the new editor!

It's true that the type sizes are different in my examples, but I did experiment with type sizes and found that it didn't affect the results. I'd be interested to hear whether Davide has any insights about this.
This little matter aside, I've continued testing Dynamic HTML Editor 2.0 and am very impressed with its capabilities.

You seem to have used two different font's.
Maybe that has something to do with it. I have no idea what else it could be.
I can say this. It is never a good idea to create images when you can use normal text. Images use more kb and make the site load slower than plain text.
I also would recommend using a paint program to create these images and not a webeditor.

The url you've posted for your images is "file:///C:Tempdhe20.jpg" and "file:///C:Tempsitespinner.jpg". Post them on your site and provide a url for that location. |

Thanks for your comments. I probably will buy Dynamic HTML Editor 2.0 for a number of reasons, but here are a couple of images demonstrating what I mean:

From looking at the source code it looks like SiteSpinner is converting text to .png format and possibly applying some anti-aliasing in the process. I tried converting my Dynamic HTML Editor text to a graphic and anti-aliasing it in the program but it didn't appear to help.

I had a look at Sitespinner and created a piece of text in both Dynamic HTML Editor 2 and sitespinner and there is no difference between them.
Non that I see anyway. No jaggyness whatsoever. maybe you could post soem screenshots here so we can see?
What I can say is that the code in the page made with sitespinner is definately not w3c compliant and in Dynamic HTML Editor 2 it is.
My recomendation:
Go for Dynamic HTML Editor 2. It's cheaper to[2 H:)]
