When I import this page:

http://2min50.com/BoxGear/CHIindex.html

1. All the links disappear.

2. The background colour displays a saturation gradient from left to right.

Is there any way around these problems?

Can you send me a sample so I can check if there is a problem?

I didn't set a background image.

If I click on the background, choose properties and then click Image Settings I get a list of all the images but there is no background image or any image I cannot identify.

I think the relevant line in the HTML of the site is:

<BODY SCROLL="auto" BGCOLOR="#FFFF80" TOPMARGIN=0 LEFTMARGIN=0>

If I delete this line and then import the page into DHE I get a white background but I can then change this using the Back Colour setting.

I suppose this is a workaround for the problem?

You are not able to see the background color (set to pink) because over there is the yellow background image you set ;-)
Try to remove the background image and you'll see the background color. You can set the bg image transparent if you want both.

The picture shows a capture of part of the screen with the page in question open in DHE. The background colour saturation gradient can be seen.

The foreground and background colours have been set to colours not used on the page. Clicking OK produces no change and if the settings window is reopened the same foreground and background colours are shown.

Nothing happens?

Please explain me in details the steps you did and I'll try.

Davide,

I have actually read the documentation and had done exactly what you suggested to adjust the background colour. Nothing happens. Please could I invite you to import the page and try it.

Of course if I start from scratch I can set the background colour with no problem but it seemed to me that as the program was called "HTML Editor" it would be capable of editing existing files?

I currently use Cool Page for producing websites. In many ways it is similar to your application, (the "Events" facility is near identical), but I think it is no longer being developed and has a big disadvantage in that it won't handle Unicode. It won't even try to import existing webpages.

cgaski,

the idea behind Dynamic HTML Editor is to draw a page in the program, save it as .dhe and when ready export it as a true web page in .html format.

The program has also the ability to import pre-made pages but the imported pages sometimes need to be adjusted.
In order to change the background of your page (in Dynamic HTML Editor) go to the page properties (click in a empty point of the page, then in the right panel, the properties panel, you'll see the common page properties, click on the "Custom" or "Other" button and that panel will appear)
On the "Colors" tab you'll be able to change the backgrund color and image of the page.

I suggest you to check the help for a quick start guide. In the tutorial section of our site there is also a quick guide to the program ;-)

Thanks for your response but I don't fully understand.

After importing I checked the page and found the problems I listed. I can reinsert the links but I can't do anything about the background. If I choose "properties" and try to change the background nothing happens.

I appreciate that Dynamic HTML Editor is not a browser but if I can't import a page I can't edit it.

After the import you need to check the page; Dynamic HTML Editor is not a browser so it has limited importing capabilities.
