You are the man, you are God sent! I followed your advice and got this program working. I don't really know which caused the problem, whether it was ESET Smart Security or corrupt unicows.dll file. But I suspect a corrupt unicows.dll.
I will also thank s.dav and siemens for thier noble contributions towards resolving this pain-in-the-ass problem that consumed so much of my precious time. Thank you all!! |

Posted - 13 Nov 2009 : 14:59:17 If you did not reboot after disabling the anti virus may not be off--some make it so it cannot be disabled without reboot for security reasons--I would set it to not start on windows start-up and then try again...
also the dll may be corrupt i would download another copy and overwrite/replace what is there---save the one that is there somewhere and replace it if it was not the problem---unless someone thinks that would be dangerous--i also do ot know if you should reboot after you do this part--if you do it i mean.
So I would
overwrite the dll disable the eset from starting on windows startup reboot install dwhe pray |

Posted - 13 Nov 2009 : 14:43:14 I use ESET Smart Security which is Firewall and Antivirus in one. I closed the program from Task Manager. The dll is present in my system. This is the path: Windows\System32\unicows.dll. I can't understand why this program is reluctant to start. |

Posted - 13 Nov 2009 : 14:40:19 Yes, the "unicows.dll" (Microsoft Layer for Unicode) is installed in the Windows\System32 folder, check it in that folder. |

Posted - 13 Nov 2009 : 11:52:27 What virusscanner are you using? Some scanners want install this dll because it thinks it's an virus. dll is used by more programs, for example also msn. You say you temp. disable antivirus but sometimes it is still working even if it says its disabled..... try to search for this file on your computer, it should exist in de Windows\System32 folder i think... If it is not available on your pc then also other programms will not work probably... maybe Davide can tell if it is in the installation package of DHE or DHE is just using it in the system32 folder... |

Posted - 12 Nov 2009 : 08:54:49 This appears to be a quite strange problem to me. I suggest you to:
1- remove the program 2- clean your registry with a program like "Registry Mechanic" 3- temporary disable antivirus and antispam; IMO they are interfering with the program. 4- reinstall D.H.W.E. and retry
