Although the index.dhe is set as the start page, when it gets uploaded, it doesn't work. I have to manually give the URL followed by index.html.

Any ideas on how to correct this?

Yes, the starting page of a site depends on the hosting provider.

For a php hosting the starting page is often "index.php" then "index.htm";
for an ASP server the starting page is "default.asp" then "index.htm"

Some hostings prefer "index.html" to "index.htm" ;-) so make attention!

That's because I edited it, don't you think? ;-)

It's a thing we all meet once. The setting of the startpage is made in the server configuration by your hosting administrator. Mostly it is index.htm or, if that page can't be found, the server will look for index.html or index.php. I also worked once with a server whose startingpage was named default.htm.

That's it! Thank you so much! How did you come to that conclusion? I would like to know because depending on the server, I might run into this problem again...

When I go to http://www.nativeamericanringtones.com/index.htm (htm instead of html) I get your error. Index.htm is seen as the starting page by your server. You should remove this index.htm manually with a FTP client. Probably it's a left over from an earlier upload. After removal the server will see index.html as starting page.

Ehhhhh, try and remove index.htm from the server :)

Would be happy to post the link: http://www.nativeamericanringtones.com (add index.html and you will be able to see the start page).

Are you sure this isn't a server issue? Can you post a link so we can try?

Davide: this doesn't make any sense... why would I export, then choose the starting page, then browse it? I'm talking about UPLOADING the finished site - I set the starting page, I export, I publish, then when I go to the site, I get the above message. (Using latest version, by the way).

The message said you to:
1- export your project
2- choose a starting page
3- browse it
T00N Posted - 02 Jun 2009 : 22:46:07
Try setting a different page as startpage and then change it back to index.dhe?
rmmarsh Posted - 02 Jun 2009 : 21:38:31
Makes no difference... I'm getting the following message when I try to access the page:

Before browsing the project you have to export it and set a start page

Does the server use index.html as the start page? Some servers use only index.htm or default.htm. Your hoster can give you info about that.
