Hi
I'm looking at creating a template page to use for a website, but also want to know if I can have a template like a Menu, which I can update every now and then and it will update in all the pages of my website? (rather than updating each page individually with a new menu)?
At the moment I don't have a template setup so I'm updating each page individually, and finding that the no. of pages for my website is increasing, it's quite a long task to do manually.

Yes! That is what I'm trying to create (I like the style of your sub menu!), sounds like the master page and batch manager are the way to go - thanks for the tip on the batch manager! |

This is the same two-levels menu that I use in my homepage; I inserted in into the master-page, then using the batch manager, I assigned that master-page to every page of my site ;-) |

Thanks Davide, I have downloaded the new version and can see where the info is on the master pages now.
What I am trying to create is a menu, with submenu similar to http://www.ekidnakids.com.au/ 'Shopping' which comes up with a list of sub menus - as my sub menu would change every so often that's why I would like to set up a template with it so that I only have to change that one page or template, and that will change all of my web pages rather than me have to change them manually as I have 50+ webpages.
Am I going the right way about it by setting up templates to make life easier do you think? Will probably be a bit tedious at the beginning to the insert dhe file into each page (although I am revamping my website anyway and need to access each page), but will be worth it in the long run.
I will obviously also need to set up events to show the sub menu on mouse over.
The other alternative for me is to just have the main menu, and then click to go to a new page for the sub menu and just adjust that sub menu page as I need to? (Although that will be more clicks that visitors will need to access? - more time for them to access pages)

In version 3.x there aren't master-pages;
if you purchased version 3.x you have free updates to the latest version so I suggest you to download and install D.H.E. 4.3 |

Thanks again TOON, I have tried that (now that I understand where the 'objects prefix' checkbox is, but still can't get it to work.
When you say masterpage options, what do you mean? I have had a look in the Help Menu and can't find anything if I search for masterpage?
I am running 3.3.26

Open the file menu.dhe
Double click somewhere in the page to go to page properties
On the right an in the middle you see a checkbox 'objects prefix'
Click this to check it and fill something in -like menu-.
Now go to the other page and try again .
But again -I can't say it enough- check out the masterpage options :) |

Thanks for the help.
I have tried as you mentioned in the last post, and when I click on green arrow to 'insert dhe file' I get a message coming up saying:
'When you import a .dhe File you must supply a page prefix. Open the file 'C:/..../project/menu.dhe', edit the page properties and set the 'Objects Prefix' property to (suggested) 'menu'.'
I tried having a look around to see if I can edit the page properties and set the 'Objects Prefix'... but am a bit lost.. |

Personally I use a separate master page in most of the cases but what Davide means is:
Create a page with the menu, save it as -lets say- menu.dhe.
Now create your index page, click on the green arrow in the top left and choose 'insert dhe file'.
Choose menu.dhe and there's your menu in your index page.
This works but you really must look at the helpfiles for the masterpage option.
That is a real time saver and will do what you want in 99 out of 100 times. |

s.dav, I tried using this method - I put the menu into a separate .dhe page, and then I clicked 'export as...' 'DHE Object file', is this correct, as I still can't seem to get it working?

This can de done by placing the menu in an i-frame.
Let all the iframes link to the menu page and it's automatically updated when you change it. |
