I'm tired of paying my web builder for every little change I need so I bought this program. How do I edit my website using this software. I've looked everywhere and can't find how to do this. Thanks!

Martin you are right, the Import feature has some problems with IE7, as usual Microsoft chaged something and for us poor programmers it is a hell :-(
I'll check it

Well that is strange. I followed your advice and turned of my Kaspersky Internet Security and it worked fine. Why it only works when I turn of KIS is a mysterie to me but hey when it works it works:-).

Thanks joneq!

Just a thought--try with firewall off---if you feel safe enough..

what page are you trying to import ??

Maybe post a link so others can try>>>> to rule out any strange security settings you may have.

I never got that error

Well I gave it a try, it has been a long time since I used this function, but I get a strange error. It states:

quote:
An error has occured while importing HTML page. Be sure to have at least Internet Explorer 5 installed in your machine. The error is: (800706BF) Automation error
The remote procedure call failed and did not execute.

I have no idea what it means but I am running Internet Explorer version 7 so that shouldn't be an issue.

Davide?

Regards,

Martin

Question number 1 to ask is, "What software was used to do my site?" If DHE wasn't used - you will probably have a serious problem trying to import. I don't know of many programs that import well.

You could try to import [check the help] your site, but I have never been able to do it and get anything even close to usable.I really hope I am doing something wrong but I don't think so..

try that and see what happens

open the help and search for html import or....

HTML Import

Dynamic HTML Editor permits you to import pre-made HTML pages. Pages to be imported must be on your local disk (already saved on your disk) and you must have Internet Explorer 5.0+ installed.
You can open this dialog by clicking on the menu File/Import/HTML Page.

How to save an HTML page from the internet on your disk
a) open the site you like on the internet
b) choose the menu File/Save As...
c) in options choose 'Web page Complete' and click Save

PS. Contact the webmaster of the site for his authorization first!

Choose the two available options and click the Import button.
The import operation may take some time and during this time it's possible that some strange windows will appear (this is Internet Explorer and not Dynamic HTML Editor) simply close them.
To stop this process press the SHIFT key.

This operation can import absolute positioned sites (CSS1) perfectly and normal sites very well. Obviously, not all sites can be imported correctly, but in most cases the result is good without changes. After this operation, it is very useful to merge some labels together. You can do it by 'Merge sel. Labels' operation in the Tools menu.

Personally think I would just make the whole site over with dhe if at all possible....It probably would not take as long as you might think--

There is also software like editwrx. Very usefull for editing any website---but not free...
