Posted - 04 Jun 2008 : 18:36:18 I am creating some toturials for Davide and in these tutorials I have text balloons and textnotes.
I need your opinion on color.

I prefer the first balloon and note (white text on blue background) because they look fresh and positiv.
What are your opninions? |

Posted - 06 Jun 2008 : 22:48:01 The balloons need not be such a dark shade. They can even be semi-transparent. Using a shadowed outline can emphasize their shape. |

Posted - 06 Jun 2008 : 07:35:51 I like first balloon and third clipboard because they are easier on the eyes, but the third clipboard looks like it needs more design.
So, to spice it up, download these, highly recommended: http://www.dezinerfolio.com/2007/05/06/ultimate-web-20-layer-styles/ a MUST have ;)

Posted - 05 Jun 2008 : 18:21:50 I like black text on blue balloon and black text on white clipboard or maybe black text on yellow clipboard. White on blue is nice combo but is more difficult to read for me --especially if there is more text to read than what is in the examples---- like there will be I am sure...
One complaint I have with these things is that the author does not leave enough time to really read everything before the arrow is off to the next move. Some tuts have the click next to proceed/pause which solves this problem---whichever it is I hope enough time is given.Sometimes the fact that there is a pause feature is not so evident...
there is also the scenario where someone "thinks" they can speak English and will need time to really digest what is being said in the balloon /clipboard. Normally they can do well with the language, but maybe not in this sort of case...

Posted - 05 Jun 2008 : 16:32:25 Hello Martin,
Since there is a difference in what they mean, I think the balloon and the Clipboard should be different. I prefer the black on blue balloon and the white clipboard.

Posted - 05 Jun 2008 : 12:53:20 I will use as a textnote the white background and black text.
But how about the textballoon? I am leaning towards the white on blue.
I really don't want to use a white text balloon with black text on it.
I now have: jtarin > black on white Tonivel > white on blue petran > black on blue rinchiri> white on blue candid > black on white
2 x black on white 2 x white on blue 1 x black on blue
So this score doesn't really help me
Any specific opninions on the text balloons?

Posted - 05 Jun 2008 : 09:15:26 My monitor is calibrated more for print, so I find the black text on the white background is great for me. The black text on blue comes second. The white text on blue places more emphasis on the box than the text, and the text looks a little washed out.
Nice work!

Posted - 05 Jun 2008 : 08:14:48 The middle one is too sensitive to monitor differences. The one on the right was the best IMO. |

Posted - 04 Jun 2008 : 23:50:35 I like the black on blue most. Good to read and a clear contrast between the balloon and the background. Very nice indeed. |

Posted - 04 Jun 2008 : 22:00:52 Hi Martin!
Me too. We also prefer the first balloon with (white text on a blue background) is a fact, has better vision.

Posted - 04 Jun 2008 : 21:59:05 I agree with you however the black on white provides better overall contrast and is easier on the eyes. Very good work. |
